Pathology LIS Administrator Providence/Black Hills Pathology

Responsible for all aspects of "PowerPath" Pathology Lab Information System (LIS), including system administration, database administration and analysis, LAN/WAN support, some network design, and a variety of programming tasks in a Windows 2000 / MSSQL server environment. The pathology dept is distributed across three locations, Providence St. Peter Hospital, Capital Medical Center, and Grays Harbor Community Hospital. Technically I report to the Lab Manager although I answer directly to the pathologists and Laboratory Medical Director. Although this system is on the Providence corporate backbone, it is not a Providence IS system. This creates a number of support and development issues with respect to everything from procurement of hardware and software, to network routing and access to resources.

Unix System Administrator - Providence Health System

Supported a heterogenous environment including Digital UX, HPUX, AIX, SCO, Linux, OpenVMS, and AS/400. Provide system design, support,maintenance and problem resolution for clinical, billing, and patient care systems. Member of several interdisciplinary technical teams including Storage Area Network (SAN) design/procurement Team, Washington Technical Advisory Team (WTAC) and the Data Center relocation project team. Work closely with Network Security Officer to develop security solutions for non-windows environments.

Responsible for providing direction and leadership to a small staff in day-to-day operation of Computer Data Center, supporting a hybrid Novell/WindowsNT network and over 200 applications running on various operating systems including: Unix, (Compaq/DEC, HP, and Linux versions) OpenVMS, OS/2, DOS, AS/400, and Win3.xx/95/98/NT. Performing scheduled activities, first-level support and escalation, backup and recovery, job control, and documentation.

Multimedia production and content development. Digital video, effects,3D modeling, animation, graphics and titling. Designed, developed and deployed several large commercial Web-sites. Produced Music Videos and multimedia CD's. Assembled TV commercials, Documentaries, Concert promotions. Worked with MacIntosh based audio and video editing systems, Sony digital cameras and digital editing decks. Held a series of technical and leadership positions during a 12 year career with an organization that provides turn-key Lottery system solutions. Primary customer was the Washington State Lottery but we also supported the Montana Lottery. Enjoyed a high degree of Customer contact. Involved extensive travel and managing remotely.
